I’m an engineer living in Portland, Oregon. Originally from Chicago, I left because I grew disgusted with the density, the crime, and the self-serving political force that governed my hometown. In some ways, for me, Portland has evolved into the Chicago I left behind.

Increasingly, decisions made by Portland’s elitist leadership left me feeling alienated and disenfranchised. So, I did some soul searching and tapped into my past to find ways to strengthen my identity to help me cope with the ever increasing changes.

The first major change occurred in 2001 when I bought my first motorcycle. The second happened in August, 2008 when a friend let me shoot her Ruger Bearcat at a favorite local shooting spot. I fired a revolver once, a long time ago in Chicago, but this was different. This time I knew that guns, like motorcycles, were going to be a permanent part of my life. I still felt like an outcast in my own town, but now I knew why, and I liked it!

This blog is a continuation of that search to find ways to cope with the changes in my city and my country. When NY Senator Charles Schumer testified against the national right to carry amendment, by implying that a concealed carry permit would allow an individual to sell a backpack of guns on the streets of New York while the local police stood by powerless, it didn’t amaze me that he got away with selling an absurd fantasy in the highest legislature of the land, it amazed me that his constituents actually accepted his fantasy, which easily violates numerous existing federal laws.

It is my hope that my humble voice might help someone do their own independent research and arrive at their own conclusion.
